The Bible teaches that you can know for sure that you are going to Heaven. The answer is found by learning three Bible truths:
The Bible teaches, “Death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12b) Every person is born a sinner and deserves death, that is, eternal separation from God in a place called Hell.
The Bible teaches, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) We deserve death because of our sins. However, Christ, God’s only begotten Son, came to earth and voluntarily died for us to take the penalty of our sins. Christ shed His blood and died to cleanse our sins, was buried for three days and then came back to life. He was victorious over death so that we would never have to experience eternal death in Hell.
The Bible teaches, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” (John 3:36) Knowing that he is a sinner deserving death, and that Christ died for his sins, a person must place his trust in Christ to save him and receive eternal life.
How about you? Do you understand that you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and that the only way to have eternal life is by trusting Christ as your Savior? If you do, would you right now pray a simple prayer like this one, telling Jesus that you are trusting Him to be your Savior?
“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner deserving eternal separation from you in a place called Hell. But I also know that you died for my sins in my place taking my penalty. Right now I am making a decision to trust you to save me from my sins and give me eternal life. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
Notice again that the Bible teaches, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” (John 3:36) If you have just trusted Christ as your Savior, you now have this “everlasting life.” You have a new relationship with God which is eternal and, therefore, can never be broken. When you sin, now you need to ask forgiveness from God, but you never have to trust Christ to save you again.
